According to Chain Store Age, Ann Inc., the parent company of Ann Taylor and Ann Taylor Loft, has reached their emissions reduction goal three years earlier than expected. Their goal was to reduce carbon emissions by 8% per square foot of their retail space.
The Ann Taylor brand operates online and at 272 stores. Its target category is called the “better” priced category. The Loft brand has 501 store locations and competes in the “upper moderate” priced category. There are also 169 Ann Taylor Factory and Loft Outlet stores.
Building on the success of her Loft division, Krill is making over Ann Taylor with smaller stores and cheaper clothes. She talks with Carol Hymowitz about shopping during the downturn.
The store will be modeled after a contemporary home, with white-washed maple floors, crystal chandeliers and tufted furniture. It also will feature a styling area with plush carpet, backlit mirrors, floral wall details and ottomans, complemented by an adjacent private lounge.
Ann Inc. announced Thursday that it will open two stores in Toronto, in fall 2012, marking the apparel retailer’s first foray outside the United States.
In advance of the new Ann Taylor store opening on Michigan Avenue this Saturday, I chatted with Andrew Taylor, the brand’s style director, who risked missing his flight to Chicago to discuss the new location and how it’s going to differ from a typical store.
