“One Stop WIMPY Shop” To Feature Books, DVDs, Games, And More In Support Of DIARY OF A WIMPY KID: DOG DAYS in Theaters on August 3
The DIARY OF A WIMPY KID franchise is anything but wimpy. In preparation for the latest theatrical release – DIARY OF A WIMPY KID: DOG DAYS – on August 3, Twentieth Century Fox Consumer Products has launched a national retail campaign with Walmart, making the world’s largest retailer a “One Stop WIMPY Shop.” More than 2,500 stores nationwide are now carrying a full range of WIMPY KID products including exclusive merchandise that can only be purchased at Walmart. The program will remain in store through August 28.
As the third installment of the film arrives in theaters, WIMPY KID mania will be in full swing, and Walmart will have everything to meet fans’ needs. The retailer will carry the ultimate collection of WIMPY KID merchandise including all of the books in Jeff Kinney’s bestselling series, board games, DVDs and more. Walmart will also feature several exclusive products including a WIMPY KID Mini Prank Kit from Cardinal Industries containing a whoopee cushion, moldy cheese and flies in ice, all packaged in a collectible tin. The prank kit is equipped with fun ways for consumers to play practical jokes on family and friends. A line of book accessories will also be featured at Walmart, including bookmarks and book lights from Andrews + Blaine and Trends International. In addition, only at Walmart, a two-pack DVD set will be available featuring the films: Diary of a Wimpy Kid and Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules.
The “One Stop WIMPY Shop,” will stock an updated book that chronicles how all three movies in the franchise were made, The Wimpy Kid Movie Diary: How Greg Heffley Went Hollywood. The book includes behind-the-scenes photos, fun facts and a free limited edition movie poster only available at Walmart and Sam’s Club. On sale for two weeks, the new book has already reached the top of the Publishers Weekly bestseller list.
